Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

QAZI: Journal of Islamic Studies

QAZI: Journal of Islamic Studies implements a rigorous, transparent, and scholarly peer review process to ensure the academic quality, originality, and intellectual integrity of published articles. The journal applies a double-blind peer review system, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review process in order to maintain objectivity and fairness.

1. Initial Editorial Assessment

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial evaluation by the Editorial Board to determine their relevance to the scope of Islamic studies, compliance with submission guidelines, and adherence to academic writing standards. At this stage, manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software to ensure originality. Manuscripts that fall outside the journal’s focus or exceed the acceptable similarity threshold will be rejected without being sent for peer review.

2. Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment are assigned to at least two independent reviewers who possess expertise relevant to the manuscript’s subject area, including but not limited to Islamic law, Qur’anic studies, Hadith studies, Islamic thought, Islamic education, Islamic economics, and contemporary Islamic discourse.

The review process is conducted anonymously (double-blind) to preserve impartiality. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on the following criteria:

  • Originality and scholarly contribution

  • Relevance to Islamic studies

  • Strength and depth of theoretical framework

  • Methodological rigor and analytical clarity

  • Engagement with contemporary and classical sources

  • Coherence, structure, and academic writing quality

  • Contribution to the advancement of Islamic scholarship

3. Editorial Decision

Based on reviewers’ recommendations, the Editor will issue one of the following decisions:

  • Accepted without revision

  • Accepted with minor revisions

  • Accepted with major revisions

  • Rejected

Authors who receive revision requests must submit a revised manuscript along with a detailed response to reviewers’ comments within the specified timeframe.

4. Final Determination

The final decision regarding publication is made by the Editor-in-Chief, taking into consideration the reviewers’ evaluations and the revised version of the manuscript. The Editor-in-Chief retains full authority in determining the publication eligibility of a manuscript.

5. Publication Ethics and Integrity

QAZI: Journal of Islamic Studies upholds international standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. All authors, reviewers, and editors are expected to maintain confidentiality, avoid conflicts of interest, and adhere to ethical principles in scholarly communication. Any form of academic misconduct, including plagiarism, data fabrication, or unethical citation practices, will result in immediate rejection or retraction.
